T.J. MARTELL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR 2010

New York, NY – (January 7, 2010) – The T.J. Martell Foundation is pleased to announce its Board of Directors for 2010 under the leadership of Founder and Chairman Tony Martell. The twenty-six directors, including two newly-appointed officers, are each distinguished, accomplished individuals in the fields of music, finance, entertainment, travel, media, and law who have a long history of supporting the Foundation in its mission to raise funds for innovative cancer and AIDS research.

After sixteen years as President of the Board of Directors, legendary music executive Frances Preston has stepped down from this position. Ms. Preston was the Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year honoree in 1992 and helped raise over fifteen million dollars for cancer research through various events and donations. She will continue to be involved with the Foundation as a lifetime Director and an at large member of the Executive Committee.

Broadcast media executive Ron Hartenbaum was elected President of the Board. Mr. Hartenbaum is a founding partner of MediaAmerica and CEO of Jones Radio Networks. He launched WYD MediaManagement, LLC in 2004. “This disease is our generation’s healthcare battle, so even in tough economic times we need to generate research funding if we are to prevail,” says Mr. Hartenbaum.

Continental Airlines Regional Sales Director Mike Brzostowski was elected Executive Vice President of the Board. Mr. Brzostowski began his career with Continental in 1986 and has held prominent positions in Denver, Los Angeles and Newark, NJ in the customer service arena and now heads a nationally-ranked team of sales professionals. “There is not one person I know who has not been touched in one way or another by a loved one with cancer,” he says. “The funds raised by the foundation bring us closer to the day when we can defeat this terrible disease.” Thanks in large part to Mr. Brzostowski’s dedication, Continental Airlines has raised over $1 million for the T.J. Martell Foundation.

The offices of Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary will remain as in 2009. Mr. Paul LiCalsi, a partner at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, continues his term as Vice Chairman. Mr. Kevin Kelleher, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sony Music Entertainment, continues his term as Treasurer. Mr. Andy Tavel, Founder of Tavel and Associates, P.C., continues his term as Secretary.

The T.J. Martell Foundation’s Board of Directors meets several times each year to strategize and lead the Foundation in its fundraising efforts.
